NG SOK WAH

PERCUSSIONIST | MUSIC EDUCATOR | ADULT EDUCATOR

Bridging artistic excellence with inclusive systems-based music learning

About

I bring over two decades of experience as a performing musician and educator, working across local and international contexts. Trained initially as a pianist in Singapore and later majoring in percussion at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, performance has been central to my musical formation. My work spans solo and chamber music, wind bands, and orchestral settings, and has taken me across nearly half the globe.
This journey shaped my musicianship, discipline, and deep respect for collaboration, values that continue guide my work in education. My professional focus has expanded naturally from the stage and studio into curriculum design, programme development, and adult learning. As a qualified Adult educator, I bridge the gap between technical musical rigour and the structural needs of private and non-profit education sectors.

A COMMITMENT TO NEURO-INCLUSIVE LEARNING

Supporting inclusive environments and diverse learning profiles is close to my heart. I believe that strong, adaptive systems allow creativity to flourish, and that meaningful music education is built through trust and consistency. By designing customised learning pathways that are structured yet responsive, I ensure that every learner - from young children to adults - have a space where they can thrive.

This ongoing engagement informs how I teach, ensuring that technical training remains connected to real musical practice, listening and collaboration.

“You have been the most amazing teacher for Archie - providing him with great teaching, encouragement, and confidence. It has been a highlight of our AIS experience.”

“My son has flourished with lessons from Sok Wah.”
Her lessons strike the right balance between technical skill development and playing music he loves for fun. She thoughtfully recommends books, helps him identify and play beats from popular music and jazz, and goes above and beyond to support his learning.
Sok Wah organised a studio and assistance for my son’s drum exam recording, which we greatly appreciated. She also provides regular progress updates, which means a lot to us as parents. I highly recommend her as a drum teacher.

“Our son has really enjoyed his drum lessons with Sok Wah.”
He has learnt so much in a short time, and we were very impressed by his progress at the recital. Sok Wah keeps us updated with recordings and brief progress notes, which has been very helpful.
